CrossFit challenge: From about a 250 to a Spartan 300, Hopefully…
Over the past 3 months I have been keeping a close eye on an emerging strength and conditioning program in London called CrossFit. It’s fundemental components are a distinct, intensive, mix of Olympic lifts, gymnastics, plyometrics, sprinting (what some consider the purest form of running), cycling and rowing. During a CrossFit workout, these components are arranged in such a way that garners a severe metabolic insult and thus get results quickly. So I’ve heard.
After staying on the fence for some time, I finally decided to take the plunge, for the month of August, after a conversation with a client of mine. During a training session with Mark Curran, I noted that not only do the CrossFit guys seem as fit as a fiddle , they also looked like spartans from Zac Snyder’s movie, 300. I wanted some of that fitness and I want to know what effect it has on MY body! Mark came right back at me and said “well youre about a 250, so you’ve not far to go!” This was the excuse I needed.
So here comes my latest method blogging series: CrossFit: From about a 250 to a Spartan 300, (Hopefully)…
I will be logging workouts, videos, photos and telling the tale of my CrossFit Adventures with CrossFit Central London and it’s owner Brian Sharp in my efforts to get significantly fitter and to change my body shape from the below photo of me:
